About Us
For over sixty
years the Men’s Dress Furnishings Association (MDFA) and its
predecessor organizations, The Men’s Tie Foundation and Neckwear
Association of America, provided valuable information to consumers
about shirts and ties and the role they play in men’s wardrobes and
lives.
Through it’s public relations program the association reached over
100 million people annually.
Recently, due to changing market conditions, the MDFA closed its
doors. However, the education mission is still a valid one,
particularly in these competitive times when a well- groomed,
professional appearance is more important than ever.
For this reason, I have decided that it is not only important to
keep the MDFA alive in spirit, but to enhance it to provide even
more information on all aspects of a man’s professional wardrobe.
After 35 years as Executive Director of MDFA and NAA, I have
developed a strong knowledge of all aspects of men’s fashion.
However, I am always learning.
In designing this site we tried to cover all the bases. However, it
is a work in progress that will reflect the ongoing changes in
fashion and lifestyle.
I owe a special debt of gratitude to Boardroom Ties for their
invaluable assistance in putting this site together. Boardroom Ties
share my passion for neckties and for helping men appreciate the joy
of putting on a beautiful tie each morning.
I would also like to thank Pete Heineck who did a terrific job on
the tie knotting illustrations and Dave Nugent and his staff RDW
Media who developed the old MDFA site and have helped us transition
to this new one.
We welcome advertisers and provide a very valuable space to
communicate their fashion message. Please contact us if you are
interested in putting your message before our targeted audience of
professionals who have a strong interest in their appearance and
personal style.
And lastly, we now would like to hear from you, the reader, on
subjects you would like us to cover or questions you would like us
to answer. If we don’t know the answer, we have a team of experts at
our disposal ready to help.
Sincerely,
Jerry Andersen
